Swimming, cycling and running certainly don’t require the flexibility of an Olympic gymnast, but the more flexibility you have the more your body will thank you for it. Many studies have shown that greater flexibility improves athletic performance and helps reduce injuries.
So on top of your swimming, cycling, running and strength training I need to include flexibility training as well? Yep!
Generally, we recommend a good dynamic warmup before stretching to help increase blood flow to the muscles and get your mind and body in sync and ready for the work it is about to do. Never stretch cold muscles.
Stretching again after the workout can aid in the recovery of muscle tissue broken down while exercising.
